Hello everyone! Joey here! Update time!
We initially aimed for an April shipping date. And here we are in the first week of May, and we haven’t sent the book to printers yet.
I’d like to explain for full transparency.
After we succeeded in the campaign, and all was said and done and we realized “alright, this is it, we’re doing this. No more pipe dream.” And over the next month, we reread the script, we looked over all of the pages, again and again, and asked ourselves “is this the best we can do?”
The answer was no. So Danny redrew multiple pages, the script was revised and tightened, character designs slightly altered, etc. Our letterer, Hector Negrete, has been working day and night on the letters for the black and white version, which will have us prepared for a speedy turnaround when we receive the final colored pages. We wanted to give you our absolute best effort for this first book, and give you plenty to wonder about for the future of Plus Waco Comics.
And within that time our colorist picked up more professional contract work from the top publishers (which we cannot name here), which we completely understand! And to be quite honest, we needed the extra time.
As this is our first go around with publishing a comics as a “publisher”, we had many things to learn in the legal aspect of the business. Copyrights, trademarks, and other forms of protection for our properties has taken up a huge portion of the mental workload.
But please don’t fret, I am not writing you this to tell y’all that we’re a year behind. At most, maybe another month, give or take, until you have your rewards in your inbox and at your doorstep. Paris let us know today he is back to our pages with a fury!
We have huge ambitions, and we are throwing our name in the ring against the publishers whose books we have all grown up reading.
We aren’t making this book as a resume to get hired by other publishers. We are making this book to it our own way. We are in this for the long haul. And we are so grateful for the backers here who believe in us enough to support us financially as we launch this endeavor.
We hope we are making Future Classics here. Stories and characters that our grandkids and your grandkids will read, watch, speculate, debate, enjoy, and experience.
Again, thank you for your patience. From the entire Plus Waco Comics team, we appreciate all you have done for us. We cannot wait for you to finally read this book.
